Ever see a lower profile adapter plate? need more space

I have a 1" adapter plate sandwiched between a stock height intake manifold and a demon carb. I really hate the small edelbrock air cleaner that I'm being forced to use. If there is such an adapter plate that is shorter then I'd be in good shape. If not my next post might be under the fabrication thread lol. I'd hate to cut down an air cleaner and risk restricting air flow but at the same time shortening the adapter plate may cause performance loss. I hear the extra inch helps increase torque. Not sure how much, if its even noticeable but.. I want to try some stuff, just need the space. Any solutions in mind?

Are you talking about a spreadbore to squarebore adapter plate, or a spacer plate?

If you think a 1" adapter plate is improving performance, a squarebore intake will improve it even more.
