vacuum digram help.

so i have a new 350 with no emissions stuff hooked up, except the evap canister, and the carb. the intake and carb were stock withe the 305 that i swapped out. I recently found one vacuum line which is just dangling. it is the line that controls the valve on the evap canister, labeled EFE in the diagram. in the diagram, the line ends at "EFE TVS". can anyone tell me what the TVS stands for? i have headers and an open element air cleaner now instead of the manifolds and the single snorkel air cleaner. should i connect it somewhere? or will it be useless without the stock exhaust manifolds and smog pump?

Is there any way to get rid of the evap canister without losing anything (power, gas, mileage...) or will it effect the amount of fuel my engine consumes? does the quadrajet need the canister to operate properly?

Re: vacuum digram help.

TVS = Thermal Vacuum Switch

If you're running headers, then obviously you're not using the EFE valve ( Early Fuel Evaporation aka 'heat riser valve' ), so you don't need to connect the TVS to anything. The TVS was just a switch that applied vacuum to the EFE valve only when the car was warmed up.

You have an O2 sensor in one of your headers to run on the computer right?

You do not need to run the evap cannister stuff if you don't want to. I took mine off and don't notice any fuel smell, milage difference, or starting/driving issues. Make sure you keep your gas tank vented though.

And please capitalize your first letter at the beginning of a sentence. We aren't texting here....

Re: vacuum digram help.

I apologize for my lack of capitalization. I do have an oxygen sensor in one header. Is there any place i can plug that line into to get the same effect as the TVS? What would you do in my situation? Would you leave it alone, plug it in somewhere, or get rid of it all together?

You don't need the effect of the TVS. Without the EFE to control the TVS is useless.

Re: vacuum digram help.

my line runs from the canister to the TVS in the intake manifold next to the coolant temp sender, and then to the EGR ( 1985, 305 4bbl)

That's the EGR TVS.
