detent cable help

I need some pics of the drivers side of a non cc qjet. The po of my car put a 327 in it and the detent cable was just holding on with a piece of wire. I bought the clip to put on end to try and fix, but I don't know which area on bracket goes. Where it works , the cable goes at an angle I am not comfortable with. So picks of the throttle cable , detent cable would be nice as weel as the bracketry, for I believe mine to be wrong.

Re: detent cable help

You need a TV cable geometry corrector, specific to the carb, about $20 at Summit. And good sturdy throttle cable bracket to hold the TV cable and throttle cables. Sorry, no pics today, it's raining.

BUT ... DO NOT DRIVE this car without this getting fixed, you'll burn up the tranny if you haven't already!

Re: detent cable help

I don't drive. I want to, which is why I need to fix. I am assuming the braket that is on it now if for a truck, because that is what carb is off of, but I am not sure. A also don't know how long it was driven like it is now. So the bracket should be specific to carb and vehicle, not engine or intake? So I should be able to pick up a bracket for any thied gen with a carb, cc or not??Clip I got at oriellys, dorman part number 41020 I think.
