Hi, I'm doing a tune up on my 86' 305 carb sport coupe to get it ready for a summer launch, but I've never tuned a carb before and I'm at a loss for how to do it. Most tutorials I found simply said "turn the screw on the side of the barrel" but its the standard quadra jet and it's covered in screws! Additionally most videos or tutorials I found say to adject them while the car is running, but my air intake completely covers the carburetor, how am I supposed to tune something I can't get to, should I run it with the intake off? I would really appreciate some help here.

Yes you have to take your air box off..... there are a few tunings or adjustments to do, so therefor you need to be a bit more specific what you are trying to do. One suggestion I will throw out there is, if you are unsure of what you are doing get someone that knows how to work with you on it. You can't simply read a post on how to properly tune a carb much less the CC Q-jet. So when you figure out what it is you are trying to tune, and have someone there to help you then start messing with it, but until then you will mess something up. Just so you know if you destroy your Q-jet because you tinker with it you can unknowingly make things a lot worse or might even stop it from running.

Search the posts by Myself, Aperion and NAF, I had lots of problems when doing mine and they really answered many of my questions. One of the things you "should" get, is a wide-band o2 sensor so you can find the right air-fuel mixture but you can get it close by doing the "everything 4-turns out" method. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close. You should also purchase a dwell meter, this will help dial in the IAC.
Thanks guys! These are great suggestions.
