Fuel pump replacement
Fuel pump replacement
i have an 87 firebird formula that i changed from a 305 4 barrel to a 350 4 barrel. i origonally suspected that my carburator was going bad because my car would "lug" in 5th gear and performed poorly. occationally after i ran it for a few minutes and stopped it it would not restart for quite some time. i let it set this winter and started it a couple times no problem but now it wont start. i pulled the fuel line and no fuel is comming out. the pump is getting voltage and the car fires on starting fluid. i looked and found two replacements. one is an in the tank replacement rated at 20 GPH 3-5 PSI. the other is an external one rated at 30 GPH and 5-9 psi. which one would be better? since i have a slightly bigger engine would it be better to get the bigger pump or does it not matter. also if i put the external one on do i still have to take the origonal out?

Just get a replacement in-tank pump for your application. Such as:

(If the link doesn't take you to the part, search for p/n E3903.)
