73 Camaro. 350 automatic. Bone stock. Currently Rochester 2bbl. Carb has non camaro carb with fuel inlet that interferes with stock air cleaner.
This is my daughter's car, so I want maximum fuel economy.
Was thinking about going with a stock Q-jet intake and carb.
What intake would you recommend?
Will a 14057053 fit under the hood?
I want to keep EGR and stock air (4bbl) cleaner for fuel economy.
Motor needs to be rebuilt, so I can change other stuff too if needed, like vortec heads - maybe?

Keep in mind if you go for vortec heads they require a vortec specific manifold. I would look in to the Edelbrock Performer Intake.Originally Posted by qazimotors

RE: Vortec, that's a good point, I will keep that in mind.
The Edelbrock performer is a good, solid choice. Do you think I would get better mileage with a factory Q-jet intake?
Does anyone know the factory casting number for a 73 Q-Jet intake on a Camaro?

The Performer is more or less a factory replacement for small blocks. I imagine the two would be similar given closely matched setups.Originally Posted by qazimotors

The Performer won't get any better mileage than the factory intake.
The 3rd gen q-jet intakes were aluminum, for what that's worth (except the LG4's in Canada, where they were still cast iron). I've got a couple of them laying around if you're interested in a cheap alternative to a Performer. They have the EGR boss, but that's easy enough to block off. However, they don't have the hot air choke mount, if your q-jet has that type of choke (easy enough to convert to electric).
