Got a carb a while back and looking to identify it. The air horn had been milled off before I got it, and I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is. Looking at different models and comparing, the closest thing I can come up with is that it is a 4777. Any other numbers on there that might help? Need a better picture? Just curious what I've got and what I'd be getting myself into with this thing. Any help is appreciated! Here's a picture:

Re: Carb ID. 4777?
It's a 650 double pumper, a 4150 series with secondary metering block and mechanical secondaries. From the looks of it, it's from the 70's when Holley cut some corners. I say that because of the plastic accelerator pump arms. It isn't a a bad carb, but Holley went back to metal a few years later for a reason. They interchange BTW.

I believe we can say the pictured carb is a 4150 series, and not seeing a secondary vacuum diaphragm but not seeing the secondary accelerator pump because that view wasn't provided, we can still probably assume that it is double pumper.

However, while a 4777 is a 650 CFM carb, I can't tell from that photo or the description offered that this carb is a 4777. It could be anything from a 600 to 850 (and probably some other things). Since the List number is stamped on the choke housing, which as been milled off, without precise measurement of the venturi, it's anybody's guess what it is.

True, I was just going by the first post basing it on what he claimed to be a 4777. One way to also narrow down what it is, would be to measure the throttle blades. A 4776 600cfm has 1-9/16" blades, and 650-800 uses a 1 11/16" blades. So if they are smaller, it's a 4776, if they are 1-11/16" then it could be a 4777 650 cfm, 4778 700 cfm, 4779 750 cfm, or 4780 800 cfm. 4781 850 cfm and up use bigger blades yet at 1-3/4". That may help narrow it down further.
