Used Carb

My car came with a holley double pumper carb. im not even sure which model it is because i cant find a model id on it. But my question is, is there a way to test a carb to see if it works? where is the model id located? and whats the corect way to clean it?

The holley part# should be stamped somewhere on the carb, it normally starts with an R and has 4 or 5 numbers after it. I would take everything apart and clean it with carb cleaner. If it looks good I would put it back together and try it. If it looks dirty, or you have some parts that look questionable get a rebuild kit for it. Once you get the model# figured out you may want to look at this chart from the holley website.

The chart shows the stock jet sizes etc, and rebuild kit part#'s. You probably want to return it to the stock settings before putting it on your car, it may have been tuned for whatever engine it came off of and not work correctly on yours. The stock settings are always a good place to start.

The id number should be somewhere on the front metering block.

ok. from what i have read. the carb i have is a 650cfm double pumper. I took it apart and it was really clean in the inside and had new gaskets in it. hopefully it works

It's on the front of the choke tower, and is a "LIST" number.
