Making carb functional with the old cross fire cowl

On my cowl hood on my 1983 trans an it's set up for a crossfire, how can I make the cowl functional with my new 350 carb setup?

Ive been contemplating this for a little while, actually. I think there are ways to do it, but the main concern is water getting into the engine. So you have to build some sort of plate off of the underside of the hood to direct water away from the carb inlet and then leave a larger airbox open with teh filter inside it. Then it gets weird because the last thing you want water on is the distributor... So you'd have to direct it to the sides and seal off the distributor area.
