Fuel pump curiosity..
Just wondering...but what wires actually control the fuel pump and what makes the pump engage with the key/power engaged once you do an ecu and passenger side harness delete? Obviously running a mallory return style regulator with the factory pump...but im trying to get to the bottom of this. 92 rs tbi 305.

Re: Fuel pump curiosity..
First off does the pump come on for a short period when you first turn the key?
Have you checked to see if 12V is at the rear connector to the pump when you first turn the key? (when measured to the harness ground and chassis ground)
Have you checked the fuel pump fuse?
Have you checked the fuel pump relay, does it close the contacts?
There's also an oil pressure switch on the older EFI cars so that when the car starts and has oil pressure it keeps the pump running. Not sure when GM stopped using that sensor so I don't know if 91-92 cars have them or not without looking it up.

Re: Fuel pump curiosity..
Honestly no. First time tackling a project like this, and every thread i read just says the same thing and its that i need to run a regulator with a return line, but none explain hom to maintain power to the pump as it would in stock form. Ive got the harness from the passenger side completely removed and the ecu as well. Whats the next step to get fuel to my carbd car? Thats what im trying to figure out.

You need to wire a switched +12V source that only comes on with the key in run position and not in accessory position. You can get this source from the fuse block or a wire that is colored Pink with a Black stripe. That 12V source will connect to the Dark Green with White stripe wire that is on the Fuel Pump relay.
Since the relay was tied into the ECM harness you might have removed it.
Here's the wiring diagram, I know it says TPI but the wire colors do not change for this application.
