Type of Fuel

I was wondering will running higher octane help with cold starting or would it have no effect. Also on a Edelbrock carb with manual choke how far should the choke close. Thanks

Re: Type of Fuel

No effect whatsoever. Only thing it will accomplish in most cases is weight reduction, concentrated at the driver's wallet. It's mostly a marketing gimmick.

However far you pull the cable.

Re: Type of Fuel

sofakingdom is exactly right. the higher the octane the bigger dent in the wallet. I run Sonoco purple 110 octane in my racecar. At around 9.50 a gallon, it puts a hurting on the wallet but then again what in drag racing does not. As for your carb, the octane level of fuel will not improve the cold start. Stick to regular
