Car was driving fine. came to a stop sign, stopped and the car shut off. the choke and check engine light came on. started up again. went a half mile down the road and the car seemed like it didn't want to give any power when i pushed on the gas. then the car stalled again. this time it doesn't wanna start. but when i try to start it again tiny puffs of smoke came up by the distributor cap but only when i turn the key. maybe the ignition module? but when i let it sit and it starts but doesn't want to stay on. Carburetor is old gonna have to fix that anyways. but then i was also thinking it might be the fuel pump? car has a new battery and the alternator is fine cause all the lights work. Need Help!!! btw the car is a Clean 84 Z28 camaro.

 

Never mind found out it is my carb. So cleaning that out and rebuilding it...

 

I'm having pretty much the same story except mine can't be the carb cause i have a 91 z28 with the TPI. I fried the previous MSD ignition box that I had while charging a capacitor off my battery. I replaced it with the stock ignition and ever since, I have been experiencing smoke coming from near the distributor and out of the exhaust. The car will only start sometimes. It cranks fer days but just wont spark sometimes. I have to hold the throttle down all the way just to get it to start (if it does). I replaced the stock ignition with a new MSD 6AL Box and the same stuff is happening. HELP. I think it may be something with the distributor.
