Is my carb ok?

I have a Holley 1850-3 on a Edelbrock inlet with a 1984 305 HO motor. This is how I got the car and would like to know if it should be ok.
The only thing I had to change was a starter motor that apparently came off a Chev 6cyl truck and was barely able to turn it over.

Re: Is my carb ok?

Should be "OK", to the extent of the information you've given us. Unfortunately however, most of the time, carb swaps like that tend to be a bunch of hack jobs, with rubber fuel lines, incorrect TV cable geometry, etc. But apart from details like that, which of course you can clean up yourself, it's a somewhat OK carb for the situation. Not the best maybe, but also not drastically wrong or anything.

The distributor should also have been changed at the same time, to one with vacuum and centrifugal advance control instead of electronic. If it wasn't, the car will probably light the Check Engine light, run real lazy with no "pep" or crispness at all, drink gas shamelessly, and tend to overheat, from the timing being too far retarded all the time.

if its not been changed, 70's junk yard HEIs are cheap and fine for a stock or mild 305.
