hello, i have returned after being away for a few years. after i sold my 87 Trans Am i was involved in foxbody Mustang which i enjoy very much. but now i have just purchased another Trans Am. its an 1986 Trans Am with a carb V8 pretty nice car has about 142k and no rust

That's a pretty nice example you picked up! I'm not sure if that particular cloth was available on Firebirds. It almost looks like a Camaro cloth. In any case, a very nice interior as well.

I like it! Wish my car was a carbed and non-vats like yours. Building a carbed engine would be so much easier for me. I'm undecided on keeping mine TBI when I make the swap to a 350.

When I said well versed I meant with tuning SA without the need for other data input for the ECM from the throttle body, also without having to run a vacuum advanced distributor if you went with a carburetor. VATS is no biggie, can be tuned from out of the chip and the starter enable relay bypassed, that is all it is. Mechanical fuel pumps contribute to more stumbling, I would never go back to one. But yeah, I would stick with fuel injection overall, in fact I would even consider running port injection over TBI, not Tuned Port Injection though. Love the color of that car. Good luck finding a console that is like finding a needle in a haystack I wish they would make a reproduction one. I have seen some folks use a 4th gen console and make it work with some engineering. Wish the Trans Am consoles wouldn't have had the soft rubber type design and would have been more like the Camaros consoles which held up much better over time. Ive had to use a lil silicone to keep mine in place I would love to be able to go buy a brand new replacement and would be willing to pay good $ for one as I'm sure many more of us would. There has to be a market for it.

Ive thought on that but where I see the difference is where the radio and climate control box ties in but I'm sure someone has done it I haven't looked at the difference in them side by side but I am going to sometime. The early 3rd gen firebirds had a lil different console setup more like the Camaros I have noticed that.

I can see what you're talking about on your center console. It is a common problem on our cars that the sides start to pull away, leaving a gap at the shifter plate. There are some good threads on here on how to make repairs. I did mine using "Gorilla Glue". That stuff worked fantastic! I think your console can still be saved with a little work. You can probably find a product to fill those holes where the screws are, and it would be almost new. If you want to go Fourth gen console, there are plenty of threads on that subject.
i found a new console on ebay and have it on the way has no separation of the vinyl

just got the new center console in. also had to get a new lid, man that was a job to track one of those down

Wow! That looks good. Down the road I will need to replace mine. I "fixed" it for now but I would love one in mint shape. Wish they would offer a new one I bet they would sell.

i tried looking for a cold start video for an LG4 that was not an obnoxious "pump the gas 7 times" video on Youtube or cold start exhaust clip and could not find any so i made one myself. its split into 2 videos, shows the current progress i have made on her so far. right now i am daily driving the car because oddly enough this was cheaper to insure then my Bravada
i still have a ways to go like replacing the headliner, t-top drip guards, repainting the front bumper, and the whole EFE/header thing but she still looks great going down the road. just washed/clay bar/waxed her over the weekend.
