Help with Fuel pump.

Help with Fuel pump.
So I Have an 87 305 carbureted Vin Code H. It has the stupid 2 fuel pump set up. I have replaced the in tank fuel pump twice. This last time it only lasted for 2 days. What is the best option for me at this point. Should I remove the in tank pump and only use the mechanical pump on the block and an older fuel pick up. Or should I bypass the mechanical pump and use a more powerful in tank pump with regulator. The car is rust free, no leaks and only has 40,000 miles. I'm trying to make it a reliable daily driver.

.
You could do away with the pusher pump and just run your mechanical one I'd imagine.

I would imagine dropping the tank to replace that fuel pump is a nightmare.
My vote is to abandon the in-tank pump and install a Carter M6626 mechanical on the block for reliability and ease of maintenance.

I agree. On mine, I just have the mechanical pump. It does okay, but if you let your car sit for a while and your bowl gets empty in your carb, it will take quite a while to get fuel sometimes. Not too bad tho.
