Does an 84 need EGR to pass emmisions?

I am swapping a 1971 350 into my LG4 powered TA. Of course, Im in the process of looking for an intake manifold, and really like the air gap and how it looks. We are going to do cowl induction, so hood clearence is not a major issue. But they dont make an air gap with EGR. I live in Connecicut, and was wondering if I could pass emmisions with no EGR setup. If not, can you guys recommemnd a good intake manifold for a 350 thats getting a big cam (.474/.480 lift), tubular headers, full catback, and cowl induction?

ct.-i grew up there- howzit going-i do believe that a functional egr system is going to be required to pass the visual. actually if the test that the inspectors do in ct does not include a run up to speed on a chassis dyno-you can delete the word "functional" from above the inspector will probably want to at least see it attached to the intake manifold-also the manifold you utilize will need a heat crossover too but you can block that off and no one will be the wiser.

You might consider what I'm using, the ZZ4 intake GM p/n 10185063. My cam specs are 216/228 @ .050", .454"/.480". It has the same EGR mount as the LG4 intake, mounts the carb about 1/2" higher.

I haven't dyno'd it yet, but the BD says it pulls nicely to 6k.

The manifold that 5.7 is using is a great piece, other manifolds are: Edelbrock Performer, Holley/Wieand Dominator/Action+Plus or a single plane Weiand Team G (w/EGR).

As for functionality of the EGR, don't be fooled. The tech guy is require to apply vacuum to the EGR on idle, if the car stall or stutters you pass. If it does nothing you fail, end of dicussion. This is the way is has to be done, but some tech don't do it this way. Good luck.
