my buddy read on his holley 650 DP instructions, it says never to use a double pumper carb with automatic overdrive? anyone know why?

You can use it if you want to.I had one on my car before.
Most people say you shouldn`t run a DP on any auto tranny
because most engines will bog of the line(unless you have a
really high stall converter).A stick car can launch at any rpm
it wants to so bogging is not a problem.

Read the thread above about Holley's and 700R4. They are mearly covering their butts over the TV cable connection. There is a bracket (part no. 20-95) that cures the problem.Originally posted by LilJayV10

cosmik, i was wondering if that was the reason or not. what excatly is the problem with them? the geometry of the throttle linkage. i will look at that other thread, thanks for the info. lil j

I think I found the explanation on Holley's website. It is just a geometry problem. You can either get the Holley part or bend the stock bracket about to make it work. I have a feeling that the lower hole on the Holley throttle arm may not be in the optimum position either but it seems to work OK on my car.
