new fuel pump question
new fuel pump question
Hey guys, I am wanting to install a new manual fuel pump pump on my '84 305 Trans Am. The stock pump has 2 lines going into it from the tank. The new pump has 1 inlet 3/8" and 1 outlet 3/8". Does this vechile have an electric fuel pump also and the one is a return line? How can I get around this using the new fuel pump? Thanks for being here.

The stock mechanical has a return line. It is possible your car has a dealer-retrofit electric in-tank, but even then they used the mechanical with return line.
I just got an AC Delco stock replacement pump. It feeds my engine to 6 grand with no problems. The return line is a good idea, though, for keeping the fuel cool on hot around-town-driving days.
The other possibility, if you really want to use that two-port pump, is to put on a 3-port regulator and use the return line.
