NCC LG4 Q -> Mild 355

I really REALLY need your help. I recycled my nonCC Qjet from my LG4 to use on my new mild 355. No one replied to my post earlier about selecting metering rods for it so here's what I did:

Primary:
from 43 -> 49

Secondary:
from CH -> DP
from L hanger to G hanger

The adjustments seemed to help out alot, but it idles like KRAP! I didn't change the primary jets when I changed the rods, and I just realized now that this may be a problem! Can anyone help me? Do I need to go to a bigger jet if I go to a bigger rod? HELP!

Thank-you in advance

I'm a dumbass! I just read in Smokey's book that you do have to change them. For some reason I assumed primary jets only came in one size. I have the jets from the carb I pulled the 49 rods from... I will put those in and see what happens!

I had similar problems with a 305-mild 350 swap. I tried to use the non cc lg4 q-jet and it wouldn't idle. On the advice of a local racer, I picked up a used q-jet from an 83-84 350. His story was that the idle air ducts on the 350 q-jet are larger than the 305 q-jet. I am by no means a carb guru, but this swap swoothed out the idle significantly. The metal plugs over the idle air screws on the used carb had already been drilled out so it just a matter of tuning for the smoothest idle. I am running #72 primarys and ck rods on a B hanger for secondarys. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, I think I found the problem with the small primary jet... that could have been what was getting you too. As far as I know teh stuff that guy told you about the idle air ducts is BS.... but I could be wrong.
