umm.. my buddy wasted the 350 in hs 75 lt,..and he said I could use his 650 dp and HEI to "test the waters of the dark side".
I and if i like em i'll buy them. But I know jack about holleys. Am i going to need to rejet the 650 to work on my 305? Or will it run as is? Its pretty stock w/ an L98 cam.
My brother also toasted his L69,..so i have a lot of carb stuff to work with.

What do you think?

There is an article in the tech section that should tell you everything you need to know about the swap.

It's gonna be a bit tricky to get a 650DP to work right...it's prolly a bit much carb for you. I have a 650DP on my 305 and I think it's about perfect...but I also have alot more done than you do I think. Same cam though at least It can prolly be done, but will at least require a bit of retuning .

Carbs are 90% "self-adjusting" by their nature. The carb has no idea how big an engine it's sitting on- it only knows air flow. Any carb will require tuning when you move it to a different engine but assuming its in good working order to begin with the changes should be minor. A 305 can swallow a 650DP no problem.

94 Firebird Formula M6- No options but Z rated tires. No mods over $10. 13.5@105.
79 Malibu "beater" w/junkyard 400 SBC, tweaked QJet 4bbl, finally a decent set of heads, a few other tricks. A maddening 13.000001 @ 108 on the motor with little traction. No nitrous runs with the new heads yet.
Grandma's old 78 Malibu (33K miles!) soon to have the powertrain from the 79 put in it.
