tuning a carter

Hello everybody. First ever post here, so I hope it works out well... Anyways, I have an aftermarket Carter carb (625cfm) on a basically stock 350. I have been looking for any resources on tuning a carter/edelbrock. Already have the strip kit. Oh yeah, the main reason that I am wondering how to go about it is that my car seems to stumble just off idle (anywhere from 1000-2000rpm, depending on conditions). Any ideas? Thanks

Mike

Try Edelbrock's Performer series carb manual for a guideline. It should be similar, but you won't be able to use any of their charts.

Yeah, I found that page, but was hoping to find someplace with charts that I could use. All the edelbrocks have different part numbers, and different cfm ratings for that matter. Thanks though. I guess i'll just try basing it on the 600cfm edelbrock.

does this stumble occur on throttle tip in? like when you nail the gas is it stumbling?

it could be your pump shot, which hole do you have the pump shot arm on?

Also, make sure your distibutor is working correctly. I had a leaky vacuum advance cannister which would cause a sudden vacuum leak just off idle with a resultant stumble.
It sounds like it may be your carb since it varies with conditions, but i wanted to give a 'heads up' on the dist.
