Stock TPI fuel pump with Carb???

Ok, I know I can use it, with a regulator. I have already bought a mallory regulator with return. Basically what I am asking is...will I need to wire up the pump on a switch or will it still function? I have removed the TPI wiring harness and replaced it with a carb wiring harness. What else do I need to know?

I had to wire a 12v source over to the fuel pump relay to power the pump when the key is on. Mine was not functioning otherwise. I believe it had to do w/ the oil pressure safety switch or whatever that normally sends a signal to the ECM which in turn allows the relay to function and operate the pump. Or something along those lines, I'm not sure on the details there.

Since I removed the ECM (but left the wiring harness intact) that part wouldn't function I guess. Anyway, one line run to the green w/ white stripe colored wire on the fuel pump relay and my pump comes on when the key is on. (on my 87 anyway, don't know if other years have different colored wires) Works fine.

i just carburated my 92 camaro and im still running the stock pump with a holley regulater if you took out every wire to your computer then your fuel pump isnt going to work youll have to wire it up yourself i had it running to a switch then i ended up taking the +wire and running it to my fuse bock to come on when i crank my engine so i wont have to worry if if i remembered to turn it on or not hope that helps

For safty reasons (rollover, key left on, ect, ect) you should never use an elect. fuel pump without wireing in an oil pressure switch. If a veh. with a carb rolls over the eng. will quit but the ign. sw. is left on causeing the elect. fuel pump to pump raw gas all over the place. "FIRE" When the eng. quits it has no oil pressure and the oil pressure sw. will open stopping the elect. fuel pump. Just my .02!
