Convert..tbi to CARB
Ok, the conversion is complete I now are;
Carter 600cfm w/750 jets
MSD ignition, 6AL w/Dist
Took 12 hrs labor, LOTS of dough, and two frustration attacks.
With a single muffler with two exits I'm wanting to check to see how rich or lean I am running. I know I would need an A/F meter, which exhaut do I use?

You dont need an air fuel meter, in fact, an air fuel meter can send you in the wrong direction unless its a wide band O2. Standard O2 sensors arent anything near accurate at beyond 14.7:1 in either direction
You need to do some plug cuts or "read the plugs"
if its WOT you want to tune, you basically find a long empty road with a shoulder, bring along a leather glove and a spark plug socket and ratchet. Want to tune your primaries? ok, nail it in a gear that allows you to put some substantial load in the lower rpm range (like 2500 rpm before the AV opens) for a decent amoutn of time. In a 5 speed car this is easy, then cut off the ignition. But dont pull the key all the way back or your steering wheel will lock and if it does just push the key one click forward again. Be carefull you wont have power brakes just ease off onto the shoulder and pull a spark plug
Reading plugs is sort of an art form ,but basically the plug should have NO black soot anywhere and its especially important to look deep down in it, if there is any black it should just be a teensy little bit barely visible to the eye WAY in there right where the porcelain meets the metal. the rest of the plug should be a beige-ish color
tune your secondaries in the same fashion but at a higher rpm obviously like 5000

Reading plugs with any accuracy is pretty much impossible with todays pump gas. Too many additives, crap, water, alchohol, all kinds of stuff. That only worked in the olden days when gas was really gas, or today if you're running race gas, and even then was to tricky for most people. Get an A/F meter, they work like a charm.

ok, a/f meter.. checked on a price for one of those here in town, 154.00 list.. for a one or two time use is a bit over the top. Got any ideas on a cheaper one?
Pablo, I did try to plug thing, when it was WAY too RICH. It did help locating a problem, and sending me in the right direction to correct it, but it's pretty close now.

My A/F meter (cyberdyne) was $30. I think Autometer sells one for ~$60. you can get either through summit or jegs. don't spend $150
