Hey,
I just wanted to say thanks to Ed for the great tech article on the AV flap adjustment.
I finally got around to getting it done yesterday. Because some kid was talking **** about my "80's model car being slow" his words exactly. And how his new T/A was the badest thing on 4 wheels. So I called him out today after school and half of the school came to watch and he was so confident that he would romp my *** that he wanted to put 50 bucks on it so I said sure. But any way i beat the dog outa his car, made 50 bucks, and more importantly embarassed him infront of the whole school. Not bad for a 87 Camaro 350 five speed without posi. but i just wanted to say thanks to Ed for the great article that helped me pull somebody that was talking **** about the 3-genners. And i encourage everyone to do this mod.
well thanx alot.
Ross
P.S. sorry if i offended anybody by my use of potty mouth words=)

Glad to hear about your victory. One thing I should say is be carefull drag raceing near the school. I'm a bit older than most of the guys here, when I graduated the 87 Iroc was a brand new car. I've seen alot of drag racing! Back then it was late 60s muscle cars. Now 60's cars are worth too much partly because kids of my day crashed about half of them. The biggest worry is the cops! Next time call him out some place out in the middle of no where.
I have a 350 in my 86 firebird and would love to get mine that fast! My problem around here is hot rod (he he he ) rice burners, and pickups. Tell me how to get this mod! Right now my carb is bone stock and set up for a 305 (my original motor). I haven't done any carb work yet so I'm new to this. Thanks for any advise, and good luck. JIM

yea i know how that goes with the cops but there is this acces road about 3 miles from school that everyone runs on and is pretty void of cops. but thanks for the advice. As for the mod just go to the tech articles section on the home page that this board is from, www.thirdgen.com and there will be a list of articles and its under carbs/fi, go to tuning the q-jet for performance. It gives straight step by step instructions on this mod. And oh yea if your carb has torx fasteners the one u need is a t-9.
Good luck
later,
Ross

Congrats on the win. Nothing more gratifying that working on your own carb then taking it out and handing somebody their fuel injected a$$.

94 Firebird Formula M6- No options but Z rated tires. No mods over $10. 13.5@105.
79 Malibu "beater" w/junkyard 400 SBC, tweaked QJet 4bbl, finally a decent set of heads, a few other tricks. A maddening 13.000001 @ 108 on the motor with little traction. No nitrous runs with the new heads yet.
Grandma's old 78 Malibu (33K miles!) soon to have the powertrain from the 79 put in it.
"One of the last remaining QJet tuners on Planet Earth!"

hey now JimBow, nothing wrong with hot rod pick ups. I have a 81 Chevy c10 swb. with a 79 ho 305 and th350 tranny. Beats the best of the camaros around here bottom end and mid range. I like it alot, nice to see the look on the face of the guy driving the sports car, when my truck eats them up. But there is nothing like a 3rd gen car. Working on getting one soon. I was kinda wanting to get advice on what to get?
