I figured that I would just pull the q-jet and HEI and replace them with the vacuum HEI and Holley... maybe a little work to the fuel line and be done! Not the case...

First, the vacuum lines are going to be a hassle. I have 3 full time ports (fine), but only 1 off-idle vacuum all ready slated to the HEI... I'll have about 3 other things that need that too. Second, there is a block that covers the hot style choke hole on my Performer manifold. Well, I had to shave a 1/16" off of it because a screw on the Holley was hitting it at WOT. Then I put the dual fuel line on the carb and put it on the intake... WTF, it hits the EGR valve! So I replace a protion that hits with some rubber hose. Finally comes the bracket that holds the throttle and TV cables is different for the q-jet then it is for the Holley... Jegs forgot to mention that, and when I called last night to have one rush delivered... there are 62 people before you waiting on that part too!!!!!

I swapped from tbi to carb a couple of weeks ago, yes it was a pain. I'm happy with the results, didn't lose much in gas mileage either 9% to 13%, over a three hr run at highway speeds. As for the vac hook ups I have tee in the intake manifold for the brakes and one other vac line. The distributor vac line is in the carb where it belongs, as is the PCV valve. I used a performer intake tho, not a stock one. Maybe an idea to used the intake for part of the vac there.
