do you have a fuel pressure regulator, if not then you need to get one with a bypass in order to fix this problem, are u still using you stock electric fuel pump. was the car TBI. Dont go cranking on the mixture screws to cure this problem!

That carb was more or less jetted for a 350. You gotta get a carb tuning kit and work with the supplied instructions!!!

I don't know if the idle mixture screws are your problem or not, but if you want to try to adjust them, there are instructions on the edelbrock web page. www.edelbrock.com. go to 'carburetors' and they have an instruction manual online.

the mixture screws for that carb are only for idle mixture...anything in the driving range is controlled only by the rods. the edelbrock page will tell you what rods/jets to use to go a step or 2 leaner

when the TBI pump runs and pushes extra fuel, the fuel needs somewhere to go, like back to the tank.....otherwise the pump will run hot due to the excess load which could cause premature failure. I did the same thing you did, however I used the mallory 2-port and used the return line that was already there for the stock app.
