mods for an 1850
Does anybody know mods you can do to a holley 600 carb? I bought one for $20 that needs a rebuild. Since im gonna have it appear i was wondering if there was anything i could do to it. Im relitively new to carbs but i heard that you can up the cfm if you put bigger jets in. Is this true? Thanks for your help, its appreciated,
Danny

Nothing really big to mod on an 1850. You could get a secondary metering block to replace the metering plate. I cant seem to find the part number off hand, that would give you some adjustability for the secondaries. Other than that nothing major can be done the carb is good as is.
you can't change cfm with jets...doesn;t work like that.
Get a quick change secondary kit, those are handy. Run it, and see if it's rich or lean in the secondaries. If it is, get a 4150 kit to tune it. Other than that..the carb works very well as is.
FWIW, I ran a 1850 600cfm on my 305 for a few years. I didn't have to tune the secondaries, and I ran my best times with the stock secondary spring. So you probably don't even have to do that much.
