Carb. Backfiring.

I just put an Edelbrock 600cfm carb on my 350 and when I only let it warm up for about 3 mins, when it is cold and I go to take off, if I give it some gas there a soft pop or backfire coming from the carb. Is this only due to the fact that I didn't let it warm up enough or could something else cause this.

COuld be a float level problem OR a choke problem. ie you are running lean, somehow. OR your distributor is waaaaaaaaaaayy off.
