your carb may have leaking gaskets and flooding the engine. You can tell by the exhaust smell of raw gas and sooty plugs. This may be because your fuel pressure is too high. What pump are you using?

that didn't tell me anything. What is the stock pump? mechanical, electric, what?

Holleys have many gaskets that can leak.

Maybe the idle speed is just set too low?

you try adjusting the cables? did you check the vacuum advance? (assuming its vacuum secondaries) ... if your car was backfiring... umm, holley's sorta don't like that tends to blow something or other (I forgot which though, sorry)

yeah that's right,
maybe you blew out the thingy that
controls the power enrichment circuit on
a Holley. That can have symptoms
similar to leaky gaskets.

unless you have an interest in learning Holley rebuilds yourself then I'd say find a reputable carb rebuilder in your area to fix it up.
