carb/airfilter
carb/airfilter
just recently my stock 4bbl carb hit the ****s. So rather than buying a another stock carb i decided to go with the 600cfm holley after taking the old carb off i then realized that a gay little EGR valve would not allow me to add the performance so i again went and got a edelebrock brock performer intake manifold i finally got it all together and it is running like a *** back pedaling through a cornfield however there is a small problem i now cannot fit the air filter housing on the hood is high enough but the fuel line sits to high so im not sure if it possible to get my fuel line bent or if i should just take a hammer and beat the housing till it fits nice and snug and i really dont want to buy a low profile air filter housing because after the carb and intake i am in the gutter as far as cash goes so if you have any advice send it my way would ya! thanks
Did you get a drop-base aircleaner? Also, are you running the computer controlled distributor? If you are, then you need to get a vacuum-advance.

Dittox2. DON'T run that car hard if you still have the electronic reference distributor in there, you must have a vacuum advance distrib if you're going non-CC. Right now it's probably in limp-home mode or something similar to the effect.

damnit! well I guess its good that I looked at this post tonight. I am planning on doing the same thing as FATZ_86er. I was going to do a tune up this weekend but if I am gonna have to change the distributor I will wait. Anyone have a suggestion for a good distributor to replace my cc one? what will I have to change on this setup to make it work correctly?

How much tuning are you willing to do?
A good stock HEI will do you fine. Springs/weights should be changed to give you total advance of 34-36 at about 2500 rpm (vacuum advance plugged off for this adjustment), initial advance 8-10 degrees. An upgrade module and coil should be used. Then, adjustable vacuum advance that you can tweek to prevent pinging at partial throttle under load. Properly tuned, a full manifold vacuum port can be used for the vacuum advance. If you aren't comfortable doing the tuning, the stock HEI's used ported vacuum.
Or, go with a new MSD or Pertronix unit. Haven't heard a lot of good things about Accel, but don't know exactly why people have problems with them (could be an inability to adjust/tune).
Do you have a single or dual inlet Holley? If single, bend your fuel line to get clearance. If dual, I'd be less inclined to suggest that.

Jayman: A distributor swap is real easy. I remember the day I did it i was all like, 'man this is the biggest thing i've ever done, I don't think i can handle stuff like this, what if i screw up, then i'm f$$*ed!!' It is sooo easy. 1 bolt holds the distributor in place, slides right out and takes a little finesse to get in. Easy as turning right.
