just swapped out tbi for carb and had to run new fuel lines,today i gave it the gas and for a second or two it lost all of it's power and sounded like it was missing pretty bad.Does that sound like a mild case of vapor lock?and what are the affects of vaporlock?

 

That sounds more like a clogged fuel filter or a small bit of fuel line rubber stuck in a jet. Did this happen immediately after startup, or after you had been driving around for a while?

 

i drove it for a while then stopped,ran into the store and came out 5 minutes later,started it up and left it only did it once though

 

Vapor lock normally keeps the engine from starting for a while. If it started fine then bogged for a second while driving down the street under load, then you probably have a fuel starvation problem. The best way to test for a clogged fuel filter is to accelerate at full throttle while travelling uphill, prefereably in a higher gear like third or fourth. That will place the largest demand on the fuel system.
