OK guys i am about to buy a 89 RS that has been converted to a carburated engine. ALL of the pollution stuff has been removed except for the cat. I know that it will be hard to pass emissions, but i should be able to pass. UNLESS they do a visual. The three times that i have had to go for emissions they have never look under the hood or car. But does anyone know if chicago does a visual inspection on certain cars? Or do they only do that if you fail? If there is not a visual i should be fine.

What kind of carb?

 

it is a 750 holley. the computer was taken out of the car. anything else you need to know, jsut let me know.

In Chicago you will have three atempts to pass. After that the hood gets open and a visual inspection takes place.

 

Open up some small vacuum leaks. Then lower the idle to below 1000 to compensate, and take the test. Don't run for too long like that.
