Question for you all

I found a 88 Iroc Z with T-tops

The guy who has it is the 3rd owner, hes owned it for 7 years, and has only driven it a few thousand miles in the summer each year. Its been garaged in the winter. The owner is an older guy so it hasnt been beat to **** either.

Its got 113k miles, 305 TPI, 5spd pretty much stock. The paint isnt original, its starting to peel in a few places. On the hood it bubbled up and has some surface rust around the luevres (sorry for spelling) and has a little rust starting to form around the T-Tops. So it needs a paintjob. The interior is very good, the rugs are kinda dirty (as can be expected) but its power everything, everything works, all the gauges work, the AC Works, the dash has one tiny little crack but barely noticeable. The T-tops dont leak.

It has brand new Goodyear Eagles all the way around, new brakes, radiator and altenator. He has new shocks but didnt get them put in, but he will throw them in. The clutch is 6 years old, but probably around 30k miles so its getting close to due. Motor runs good, doesnt smoke.

The car is real clean. I have attached some pics. It also comes with the stock steering wheel, Kenwood CD Player and some other misc. stuff.

He wants 3300 for the car, is it worth it? The Body and undercarriage seem to be in really good shape (see the pics) so especially around here in NY it seems like its hard to find something thats worth the effort of rebuilding down the line.

Feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Note, I think it might be a 1LE version because it has an Aluminum Driveshaft, but I guess with the AC, that means its probably not.

The owner originally wanted 3700, I offered 3k and he said 3300. He seems pretty firm on that.

Just cause has an alum drive shaft doesnt mean that it's a 1le car. If you want to see if it is check under the center counsle lid and it will say on the rpo codes! as for price i would offer around $2500 and go from there but i personaly wouldnt pay more than $3000 for a 305TPI with over 100K unless it was a souther car. but the car is nice though.

Man I'd snag that if I were you. Rust free is the way to go. These cars are hard to come by if your looking for one that was stored in the winters. I bought my car for 3k and it had 94k miles, stored winters also. It's a 5 speed / 305 LG4 (carbed). If it runs good go for it, you won't regret something that's real clean underneath.

BTW, my buddy has a 88 IROC with an aluminum driveshaft. It doesnt mean it's a 1LE. But usually the alum. driveshaft was a ordered thing. Not every IROC on the lot had an aluminum driveshaft . It's a good extra thing to have! Get some more good pictures if you buy it. I've also got a gunmetal gray 86 Z28!
