i have a 4 cyl, and im looking for a little more power. looking for a 350 with 5 speed, or just roller with or without trans because i can probobly pick up a 350 with all teh goodies at a yard. i would just drop a 350 in the 4cyl, but that could be way to much work.

on the 82: it has 270,000 miles but i am only the second owner.
recently tuned it up, i.e. oil change, new spark plugs and wires, rotate tires ect. the paint is decent but far from perfect. wheels could really use a tough cleaning.

interior: when i got it there was a small tear in the back seat upper portion, and the drivers seat had a cover on it, i assume cus its messed up but i put in my own set of custom seats from an 83 TA, and assuming the next car i get has decent seats, the custom ones stay in. i just put in a $260 cd player.

whats missing right now: i only have 3 wheel center caps, and they are on their way out. both front grilles are broken beyond recognition. spedometer cable: i swaped the stock 4 speed for a T5 so the cable needs to be replaced... been looking for one in the yards.

thats about it on the 82.

on the 94: it has 117,000 miles on the 5.7 L V8, and i havent been driving it since i got my 82 running. just had the heatercore replaced. the radiator fans dont turn on all the time, so i have no idea whats up with that. its a 4 speed auto trans and i have never had any problmes with it, it shifts strong. other than that its in good shape under the hood.

primary prob: the front bumper has a large crack in it, and i have everything to fix it, but the bumper i ordered came cracked and peeling and i am about to send it back to get a new one.

interior: i took out the custom TA seats and put back in the stock ones. the center consil lid is broken (lifts off) but stays put unless you open it. small unoticable crack in dash pad (on the vent). the only other problem is that the headliner is sagging above the drivers seat.

i also was given a rear bumper + reinfocement and a rear hatch cover that would come with the car. (they dont need new ones)

i have too much in it to actually sell i could never get what i wanted for it my best bet is to trade on the 94 have you ever over heated it because of the fans going out? also where in so cal do you live and you are willing to trade both cars for mine i will have all the good and bad for you when i get home for lunch.

the motor has about 24,xxx miles on it and most of the acc are all new water pump, alternator, starter, battery wheels and tire are brand new.

 

my 94 has NEVER overheated, when the temp gets over half on the guage, i turn on the heater and that cools it down. i might be willing to do a 2 for 1 trade but possibly with a small amount of cash involved. i am located in Redondo Beach in the South Bay.

 

well let me know the small amout or i would just trade for the 94 and a small amout or just an out right trade. the next thing on my car that should be done is a new drivers seat and paint and it will be bitchin. maybe we can meet half way sometime this week or weekend. let me know what you think. that or you could just buy my car out right.

 

a straigh up trade could be possible, possibly both for the one plus like $500 or so. wrestling season just started so im not sure what my schedule will be for the upcomming weeks, but just keep in toutch and maybe we could work somthing out.

I have a solution for you two. It seems as though there is a seat issue and that the 82 four banger is just like a bargaining tool. I have a set of 1995 4th gen gun metal grey leather seats that I will let either of you have for the 82. I can get them down there and pick up the 82 at the same time. Here is a picture of the seats.

I am confused at what exactly you are trying to do? You first started by asking for parts, then you wanted info on beefing up your duke, then you wanted to sell your car, then you want to trade you car, now you are looking for putting a new motor in it. What do you really want to do? I have shown much interest in you car and I am probably one of the few who would actually want it or buy it. If I commit I need many pictures of the exterior, interior, underside, rust problems etc. I need to know if she smokes, burns oil, stalls, overheats, slips, or anything to that effect. If I am going to fly to CA and drive the car back to NM I need to know if the car is going to make it. Please give me all the details of the car and if you have the intention of selling it? alright, i will take many pics when i can get my camara back from my friend. i put in a T5 and a brand new clutch and pressureplate, the only thing is that the trans barley grinds when shifted into 3rd, and grinds a small bit when put into 4th. that is the only problem with the trans. i just replaced the spark plugs and wires sat, the motor runs fine, but idols a little fast. 2 weeks ago i put in a $250 eclipse headunit. i have both custom seats from a 83 TA, and the stock ones. as you might have noticed, the grilles are broken, and there are only 3 wheel caps, all of which are cracked. the paint is flatish red, and chiped in usual places. the silver wheel rims have a few scratches around the edges, and the wheels need a REALLY good cleaning.

4banger82 wants a bigger motor I guess, trade him your car for his 2 with all the accessories including head unit etc (that is what he said earlier). He is happy, now trade me the 82 4 banger for the leather interior and I am happy and you are happy because you have a 94, now we are all happy.

i really dont think he wants my 86 any more because of the smog issue. it is okay i am happy with my 24, xxx mile motor. pushing clos to 385hp to the flywheel

 

i know it would cut down on performance, but do you still have the stock headers and air intake? if you do, it would be alot more smogable. love the pics you posted tho

 

i do not have the headers but they are like 25 bucks at anyjunk yard. i was thinkinh of going to tpi and putting 50 state legal headers on it and getting it smoged

 

i think if you trade for mine and his seats for your car plus 200 you would be fine. my car alone in parts would kill the 94's resale value plus anything you take off you can resale for close to sales price everything is new. plus i got the cool 91-92 ground effects and the bumper so you paint thouse and you have a really nice third gen yup yup yup. i would just hate to see this thing be torn apart.

 

would you prefer the cowl hood or the original hood with the louvers. it is painted just like the car.

Considering the mileage issue you have to face and the cost of registering your vehicles in CA good luck getting $100 for your car. If you can sell it for what you are asking great, if you can't please don't junk it. I will say it once more; there is very little desire in a stock 82 Iron Duke Camaro. I happen to be one in a million who wants one, I own one and would like to own two. You asked me for parts and I quoted you $200 for just 2 grilles, a spoiler, and center caps. I have spent a bundle trying to find original parts for an 82 and believe me there are not too many around anymore. I am lucky to have mine almost in mint condition minus carpet. Well I would love to have the 82 but with 270xxx miles there is no way I am paying him what he wants. That engine is as good as dead. I will sell you the seats if the deal falls through but shipping is costly these days. Let me know if you want them?

so how long would it take/cost to conver to to a smog legal TPI set up? mostly, my only concern with the car is the lack of smog legality and how that could possibly blow up in my face. just let me know on that.

i really like the look of the cowel hood, but i think i would prefer the stock hood if its in good condition.
could you post some pics of the cowel vs. stock hood, and some pics of the car on the new suspension with the black wheels. and finaly, pics of the interior.

well i know it can be smogged i would just pay somebody to do it rather then ripping everything apart. 100 dollars to have it smogged or 1400 dollars in parts alone to make it smogable.

would there be any way to get both hoods? my friend has a guy that would smog it, so that probobly wont be much of a problem... do you have the specs for the engine? look forward to teh int pics
