Negative feedback for Elliot Thompson from Horsham, PA
Buyer beware:
Elliot Thompson from Horsham, PA, screwed me on a recent purchase and I want you all to know so you don't end up like me. I corresponded with Elliot over the course of a week or so and agreed to purchase used black carpet and all (front and back) the seat belts from his 91 Formula. I promptly sent him a money order for the agreed amount including shipping (and believe me it was not that great a deal, I only made the deal to get the belts I needed).
I received a package from him with all but the front seat belts. So, I emailed him and asked if it was a mistake and he replied with "I meant to email you, but when I got to UPS the shipping was $8 more than I thought it would be, so I removed the front belts to bring the shipping cost down. I will send them to you if you pay me half of $56 (the original shipping cost for everything) for shipping on the belts."
The worst thing to me is that he acts like this is "cool" and I owe him the money. I was completely put off by this behavior. Because the guy did not want to pay a big $8 more for shipping he was holding my fairly purchased seat belts for ransom. So, I calmly email him back and informed him that this was no way to do business, I sent my email address and home phone number with my payment as well as emailed it to him. He should have contacted me to let me know of any problems he was having. I asked that he send me the belts without any more shipping money.
He replied pretty angrily by saying he only wanted $22 (ok, that's $6 less than in the first email, I don't get it) to ship them. He completely missed the point; we made a deal and to me you stick by the deal, even if the shipping is a tad more than you expected it would be and it cuts into your profit margin. I would never dream of trying to charge someone more shipping for my mistake and neither would any other vendor out there, and if they did they would not stay in business long.
I received another angry email from him and I replied by asking for a partial refund for the parts I did not receive. I have not heard from Mr. Thompson since the email.
I have been doing business on the internet for a long time and never have I come up against such blatant disregard for integrity.
Thank you for reading, I hope this is of use to someone in the future.
Regards,
-Chris
