It was in tough shape too. It needs TOTAL restoration. Triple Black. #'s match, or so I have been told. But it needs a LOT of work.

What would something like that be worth? It needs paint, body work, rust repair, probably engine rebuild, top, etc. The whole 9 yards. It is worth saving?

 

What's he asking for it? It's definately rare, but the investment to bring it back from the dead might not be worth it vs buying something similar or identical in good shape with no resto or repairs needed. Probably would never get your time and investment out of it down the road.

 

What's it worth? I guess it depends on how badly you want it...

My guess is that depending on the shape of the parts present you should be able to offer up to 1200 or so and still be able to get your money out of the car if you should have to part it out.

Of course I am a tightwad so if the car is like I imagine it to be from your description I would start low and work my way up to around $750. If we got beyond that number I would walk... That's assuming that the car is not running. If it will run then it might be worth more.

He said he was going to raise the price in the summer. I almost laughed.

The car ran and drove but it smoked and the engine probably needed a rebuild. I noticed that the upper intake had the wong bolts in it so that would probably have to be replaced also.

 

Make the guy a FIRM offer about 12% less than you are willing to pay. He'll probably take it. If he doesn't take the offer let him think about it for a while. If someone else buys the car for more - fine. $1500, I think, would be too high for something that already manifests mechanical problems. If the motor is smoking what's the tranny going to be like? $1200 would be the absolute MAX that I would pay but it would have to have a lot of potential to get me to that price...

He had pictures of the car 3 years ago when painted by Maco. It looks horrible now. If he emails me back asking me if I want it I wil tell him if he takes $1200 it is sold. Otherwise, not going to do it. Hell, he think he was going to get $6000 in the summer. LOL
