Hardtop, T-Top, or Convertible
Hardtop, T-Top, or Convertible
I'm looking for a car to add horsepower to, probably turbocharge. I was curious if the rigidness of the body will be a factor. Can I make due with a convertible or T-tops or should I look for a hard top?
Thanks,

Convertibles flex A LOT from what I have been reading. You can really stiffen them up. There is a thread around here about sub-frame connectors and running 2 sets to make the car more rigid. I have seen several cars here with some decent power, but if you are really wanting to put the power to it, a coupe with a cage is best.....

face it, if you're actually making a good turbo car, you'll need a rollbar, if not a cage.
so ANY of them would work.
i like verts.. if its a street car to be enjoyed on the road, get a vert.
if its a track car, get a coupe.. less hassles all around (by track officals) and more aero...
i wouldnt get a TTop car for either.. they leak, and arnt as nice as verts (not to insult anyone here, but i like verts better....) and if you're going to have a roof, might as well have one that makes the car that tiny amount stiffer..

I used to have a 91 RS vert, but due to the downsizing of my ****, it didn't make the cut.
I really like the way the vert changes the way the car looks. And it would definitely be a street car, something I would drive on the weekends. I'm not looking for 1000 hp, maybe around 500 rwhp. But I drive all my cars hard, I just want to start with a good body to build off of and not be limited by the chassis.
