Anybody Know Where This Comes From?

Hi,

In October I purchased this car. Other than checking the SPID for accuracy and asking Willie his opinion of the car I did no research.

Please look at the pic of the trunk with ASC/ZO8 CCE decal. A member here PM'd me believing that it is not original (I trust him on this) and asked if I knew anything about it (um, I don't ). Anybody know anything about it, original, dealer added or just made by a previous owner?

Thanks for your time and looking. BTW, I may be trading or selling the car if anyone is interested, please check my post here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cars...91-1992-a.html

As far as the car itself is concerned, everything appears legitimate. Speaking only of the rear spoiler decal, I have never seen this before and I am the second owner of THREE 1987 Z28 convertibles. Two of the three had original paint when I purchased them. None had this decal....

Thanks Willie. The SPID shows it to be all legit, I guess the decal on the rear spoiler was added by a previous owner or, perhaps, by the dealer. I'm glad I know it (the spoiler decal) isn't factory at least.

Glad to share my little bit of insight. If I were you, I'd leave it alone. It's an interesting piece of memorabilia and it definitely "looks" original. Kind of cool in my opinion... Would you mind if I screen capture it for my third gen Camaro "history" folder?

Please feel free to. The asc/Z08 CCE decal matches the gold IROC-Z decal and stripe decal so perfectly I had assumed it was legit. I'm just glad I know now so I wouldn't pass it on that it was legit "badge." Thank you John and Willie for letting me know.

Mike's car runs very good. The only reason I am considering selling is because I really want a Red '91 Z28.

The convertible is a 1987 IROC-Z. No 1991. If you actually mean my blue '91 Z28 in the link I provided...that car is as stock as rock and remains as it did from the day it left the dealership (with the ugly dealer added pinstripe). The only mod the '91 Z28 has is added miles. lol.

I had a request for a better pic of the above mentioned decal (asc/Z08 commerative edition) so I am posting it in this thread that was originally about it in case anybody else may need it.

To a non-thirdgenner, this might look impressive. Actually, I love that whoever put this on gave props to ASC, 'cause most people don't know who the hell ASC is unless you say "ASC McLaren". I'd try to get it off VERY carefully if you want it off. If it were mine, I'd probably leave it on for fear of messing up my paint. You'll get a lot of unwanted "know-it-all" conversation from thirdgenners at car shows, but I'd still leave it on. It doesn't look bad or anything.
