Need advice on a convertible.

There is one for sale close to me for 2500. Its an 1988 Camaro black with TBI engine in it. ALl the emission stuff is off (due to it being from no emissions place) and it looks like the motor has been worked on. There are some things that I have questions about.
1. The switch to relese the rear has been jerry rigged to where you can pull it, it releases than you have to push it back to get it where it can latch again.
2. On the front strut instead of three bolts there were two with one BROKEN. He says that he experienced no problems with it, but I have to wonder why this is missing/borken.
There is some surface rust, but nothing major from what I can see. She does need some work and a new fuel pump.
I just wondered how much this car is really worth in this kind of condition?

What would brake the bolt on the strut (note, there was really no sign of a hit there at all). The frame looked really straight.

I just picked mine up 2 days ago mine has some rust but nothing major. Its a 89 irocz vert black with red interior 5 speed. it runs pretty damn good. and i had to pay 5 thousand for it. so 2500 dont seem bad if it wont take alot to it back togeather. oh yeah and my paint is pretty crappy scratchs all over

I think that you could overtighten the nut and break the stud off. No big deal really, just buy a new strut mount, it should be a pretty inexpensive part.

You might try Third Generation USA - Welcome! and see what Dave has to say. He just got some 88 vert. parts and is very helpful.

I know this is probably not the best question out there, but I gotta ask.

How are verts in the winter??? R they really cold or is it just a myth??

xlwhellraiser,
I picked my car up in Fort Collins (CO) this December. I started driving back at night and the temps were easily around 20-25. Once the car warmed up, I kept the fan on the lowest setting and was nice and toasty.

So, in my opinion, this is myth.

BTW, my car has a headliner and I found out a few weeks ago it has a 195 degree thermostat.

Thats not a bad price. I got mine for 1500 and it only needed a litlle body work and a new back window. The engine and trans were in really good working order and the interior was clean
