I have a 1988 Vert - 5.0 TPI with a RARE 5 speed manual, leather interior, full power windows, locks, seats, mirrors, etc. I have owned this car since new and I put all 158K miles on her myself (nobody else has ever driven). Car still has the original clutch, and engine still runs strong.

Anyway, car has been sitting for the past 6 years (I have started and driven her in the driveway once a year each year, but not driven on the road) and is in need to some refurbishment.

A nicer looking 90 IROC z vert with 90Kmiles same color as mine (maroon/charcoal) sold for $7.1K on ebay-so I am thinking I could get $3-$5K for mine.

I was thinking would make more money selling parts off of it - rather than selling it as is whole?

Thoughts??

 

dont p art out a perfectly good car. sell her whole if your gonna sell her at all. Let someone else enjoy her.

If the paint is still 'good' and the top has no issues and not worn out, you should be getting more then 5k i think.

 

serpentine may be correct. I just sold this car for 3600. It needed a repaint and and a new top. Plus new carpet.

 

I would think you would be hard pressed to get $5k for it parting it out. When you figure in all the time and hassle to take it apart, it won't even be close. The vert items are hard to find, but the rest is easy to find and cheap. Even the 5 speed is common - just not in verts. Most guys looking to do a manual swap want a T56 - I know I do Same with the motor - I just paid $450 for a LT1/4L60E combo with 88k miles. A 305 TPI will be hard to bring $300 - and this is mostly for the TPI setup. I have a 88 IROC TPI vert with 56k miles that needs a top, paint, and a some other minor interior work and I paid $2k about 18 months ago. I think your are in the right range, These cars are only bringing big dollars when they are in great shape and have low miles.

I have to agree with the others, sell it complete.
