Hey, the solenoids are behind the sail panels in the back. Kinda where the seat belts go in at. You'll have to remove the seat belt covers, the rear seats backs i beleive and the trip around the door to expose all the screws.
once you do that, they are just a metal cylinder with 1 wire going to them i believe (hot, as the chasis is ground)
And if you want NEW ones... just take a look around on the local banners here. TDS will probably be your best bet, and Hawks is right up there too.

I would not be surprised if they are a standard part and used for something else... They might be a solonoid for a Trunk release for another car for example, but a bracket added or removed for example... Keep in mind that the 87 Camaro verts used a FORD High mount brake light IIRC for example, you might find it if you do some searching.
