New member with a new ride

Well, I was bumming around the local craigslist the other day and I came across a 91 Camaro 'vert. I remember when I was 15 I tried to buy an 1985 T-top camaro with a 2.8l and a T5.....it fell through and I have always felt jilted as a result.....so I guess this is repressed issues coming to light.

Anyway, back to the newest arrival, asking price was a bit high but the ad read "PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE....NEED GONE ASAP".....Soo........I fired off an email with a low ball offer fully expecting to be told to take a flying leap (it would only be fair).....instead I was told they would take it. I headed out to test drive the car. It is a 91 RS with a 305TBI and 700R4, just under 132k on the clock, but runs REALLY well, no smoke, knocks, or other odditties. The interior will need some attention (as all 17 year old conv. do). The front seats are out of a T-bird and a bit worn, the after market stereo isn't to my liking, and the car could stand a good detailing. It does have a BRAND spankin' new top and rear window.

I am toying with the idea of a 350TPI swap, and changing the interior over to black.....and likely a Maaco paint job (no rust or damage to the car, but it has previously received a second paint job, and it looks like the prep work wasn't what it should have been). I have heard if I do all the prep work you can typically get a really good job and price from Maaco.

Anyway....I am gonna try and post the pics. I have, tell me what you think!

As stated, the car definately needs a good detailing.

Nice ride, bro! And welcome to TGO!

A little TLC and elbow grease, and she'll be schweet!

These cars are fairly simple to work on. If you have any mechanical ability, you'll have a blast! There's always some crap tearing up on them to tinker with lol.

Do everyone a favor (that I have NOT done and I really regret ... I'm slack) and post pics of your progress.
