Engine: 92 RS Automatic White
Transmission: 84 Z28 Automatic Red
Axle/Gears: Top to bottom 3.30, 2.70, 3.70
1984 camaro factory gm one off convertible?
is it possibly true gm made one 84 camaro convertible?
i found a car and was told it was one of 2 cars being a camaro,and firebird from 84.
these are supposidly the only ones built?
i took down what i could see as the vin number,but only 10 letters.
i have pictures of the car as well.
if i can figure out how to download?
or if someone wants to email me i can send you the pictures to upload.

I thought in 84, the only way to get a 'vert was a "toe-jam". Though, I've been wrong before... A lot!

A pic would help but it is known that the most common vert in 84 was from autoform and was a two-seater. There were other companies doing verts but they are all somewhat unknown compared to ASC and Autoform. This could make someone believe that it is a one of a kind or actually factory prototype.

He sent me the photos. Here is my reply:
I got your photos. The car is not an '84 (unless it was heavily rebuilt). The car has an '86-87 rear trunk lid. It is either an '86 or newer car (the VIN would tell you) or it was an '84 with a '86 rear end replacement after a crash.
Prototype? I don't think so. It is an ASC convertible though. If it turns out to be an '86, it would have been a Chevy dealer ordered car. A hundred or two were built for '86. It is a nice example of an early Camaro convertible. As for value....look at any price guide for the value of an '87 Camaro in similar condition with similar options.
It could also be a VIN swap stolen car if the VIN proves to be an '84.

The rear trunk lid is convertable specific but as you said it should be 86 or newer because of the third brake light.
