88 Iroc Convertible asking price

I'm looking at an 88 Iroc Convertible. It has a new Jasper 5.0 tpi engine, rebuilt transmission, auto, not sure how many miles were on the car before the new engine as the gauges are digital now. Haven't seen it in person yet so i'm not sure how clean it is. Good paint, good top, pw, pl, ps, color is orange(not sure if it's medium or hugger). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

All the things you just listed are really irrelevant until you've seen the car or have some pictures.

The seller's idea of good paint and a good top might not be what you or anybody else consider's the same, does that make sense?

It's hard to put a price together w/out pictures

I completely understand. Lets just say the car is in good condition. what would a good starting price be then? The guy is not going less than 7k.

I think $7,000.00 seems a little steep just my two cents

Take the price of a coup in the same condition and add $1000 for it being a convertible. Verts are worth more. Where Im at i have seen 3rd gen convertibles listed on craigslist for $10K. You can compare to others in your area. This is what im going by.

Re: 88 Iroc Convertible asking price

without seeing the car in person, pics are ok to see its really a convertible, ASC etc...some people consider earlier convertibles ASC or even T TOP sometimes. Anyways you'd want to physically look at car and check underside and under toneau and trunk area by rear quarters in the bottom. I've had many of these cars (GTA's Trans Ams and Formula convt), they are very good looking cars but as far as quality and workmanship...very poor. Check it out in person because you might get a big surprise under that orange paint, whatever hue it might be. People who say they're selling their car and asking a certain dollar amount and not willing to negotiate usually means their trying to make up for money they over spent on the car.
As far as $7000 with a rebuilt Jasper engine and new paint, that's is very high unless it's a original IROC convt with a 350 TPI.
Digital gauges I really don't like much either, I prefer the equipment car came with.
They never made orange IROCs or camaro convertibles that were done by ASC, so I'd subtract for the wrong color and paint it that color again, but on that point there are plenty of original clean IROC convt for sale for less.
Sounds like you don't know much about IROC ASC convt. I would go with a clean original one before I'd buy the orange one...Wait it will be worth it.
