Tired of manual torneau release need to rewire

Hey guys

So ever since i got my camaro last fall i bin trying to figure out if my torneau release switch in the middle of the two window buttons work..all it seems to do is flash a light in the trunk..is it wired wrong or is that a safety or something or is it just wired to the trunk? Has anyone ever had this similar issue?

88vert , i see the solenoids behind the rear speaker compartments but nothing happens...any help would be greatful

Thx

Check that it is grounded adjacent to the parking brake under the center console.

My solenoids didn't work until I installed the plunger switch on my hatch pulldown. Now I just have to figure out why they don't release all the way

If the solenoid is firing, yet the latch fails to release it may be that the body has twisted a bit with age and engine torque. This is commonly on the passenger side that this happens. It is easy to correct by shimming the J-hook. Remove the J-hook from the underside of the tonneau and trace the pattern of the base onto a thin piece of metal. Install this shim under the J-hook and reinstall. It may take a couple of shims to correct the issue.

Also clean the latch with WD40 and blow if off with compressed air. Then spray with silicone.

Sorry, no I was not referring to that switch. I do have a few of those in stock on my web site. Those were only used on convertibles to tell the tonneau that the trunk pull-down is closed and allow the tonneau to open with the switch. If that switch is unplugged it would be a reason why the solenoids won't fire. I thought from your descriotion that you got the tonneau release solenoids to fire, but the tonneau latch was not releasing.

Re: Tired of manual torneau release need to rewire

i dont know if anyones wiring is as screwed as mine cause when i hit the latch button the light comes on cause its wired in parallel with the solenoid on the passenger side, i guess i gotta take apart the center console and do some more searching and tracing probly check out the relay but then again i know the light gets power and i dont know why the solenoids wouldnt mayb they need replacing
