'86 Z28 Camaro Convertible question
'86 Z28 Camaro Convertible question
Recently purchased an '86 Z28 convertible in pretty decent shape, except for the paint, which we are working on. My question is this...does anyone out there have an '86 convertible that they could shoot me a picture of the inside convertible top connections/handles? I had an '88 convertible several years ago that had handles to close and secure the manual top. This car doesn't have the handles; however, I am thinking it may have had at one point and a previous owner has just "made" this removable device thingy to make it work. Thus the need to see a "stock" '86. TIA!!!

Welcome! Is that a standard convertible job? The one's I've seen have a hard tonneau decklid.
Re: '86 Z28 Camaro Convertible question
Well....while reading alot of posts this afternoon, i discovered that the convertible didnt come out until 87, which means my 86 is a conversion. The tonneau is not a hard cover...it is black vinyl. The issue I have is with the lever at the windshield. Not sure what is supposed to be there. My 88 have handle levers. This one does not.

Looks like you have a matrix3 conversion. They use a quarter turn screw with a special tool.

Thank you Rainmaker!! That's it! Now I have to find the tool or have one made somewhere. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a matrix3 conversion? Is Matrix3 the conversion company?

Matrix3 is the conversion company. You will have to make the tool, not many of these cars converted and nothing available for them.
