Door hinges
So I am finally getting to the doors.
Mine rattle around a bit when driving around the latch pin. The plastic "coating" on the latch jaws is long gone. I have installed subframe connectors which made a huge difference with the ride but the doors still rattle.
I will be replacing the hinge pins and bushings but the latch side is loose too. I even wrapped the pins with about 8 wraps of electrical tape which helps a bit but they still rattle around.
I am wondering if there are any aftermarket solutions to better secure these doors?
I am considering 3D-printing a sturdy wedge type "docking" setup at the latch end that will align and hold the door in the closed position but I'd rather not re-invent the wheel if something has already been done.
Dang- forgot to change the thread title.

Re: Door hinges
Does your door jam have the little wedge shape pieces still there? If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll try to find an example when I get a chance. Also, have you tried adjusting the striker bolt?
Re: Door hinges
Hmm.. If only there were an entire thread, complete with illustrations, about door rattles and how to solve them...
BTW, there is an entire illustrated thread just on solving door rattles. Google should find it really easily. The long and short is that there's a bunch of rubber intended to silence things like the door handles, lock rods, and so on. Early cars can benefit from the clips and whatnot from later cars too.

Re: Door hinges
Thanks I have the metallic wedges.
I am aware of the sticky in the Body forum. My doors have some rattley parts but actually aren't bad. Nonetheless, I am going to throughly go through them. I can take car of all that.
I am talking particularly about the hinges, striker, latch, and any door to jamb guides and in the context of what might be unique to the convertibles.
