1990 iroc-Z restore

I've had my 1990 iroc-z convertible for about 6 years now. I've driven it 2 times before pulling the drivetrain and selling it to a friend. I put a 2000 Z28 LS1 in it with a 4L60e. Also did the fuel tank, rear end. Front brakes... mostly everything I could swap from my 2001 donor car. With 99k on the clock. The paint is shot. Body is clean and straight. No rot. Top is crap( bought a new one years ago, never installed. ...

I'm at a crossroads on what to do with the car. Do I just finish it off with the LS drivetrain. Or do I revert back to the stock setup, 305 tpi/700r4. Numbers wont match, but would look more original.

Either way it will need paint and seats. Tires, other odds and ends... or just sell it as it is and let someone else decide. ??

Have it posted today locally for 7500. But I always get cold feet and pull my ad after I start thinking about the car.

what would you do?

I have other cars, dont really intent to keep it In the end.

Some people want LS swaps and I think they are selling ok for cars that are done. You’ll never get your money back selling a resto-mod or custom car, but there are people willing to shell out for an LS third gen if it’s nice.

I’d say usually you have to discount it pretty deep if the car is not done. Paint, interior and a new top are all some of the most expensive things to fix on a car.

As an unfinished car it probably would have been worth more in its bone stock original form. I would finish it and get some enjoyment out of it and then sell it or let it go cheap to someone that wants to finish it.

I agree, just finish it the way it is and sell it. I think the car is worth about 7K in it's condition now regardless of what power plant is in it and from where you are at now it would be way more costly to swap back.

Swap looks good. I have an 89 vert thats all stock. Just threw in a rebuilt 700r4 in it to keep with the original specs but I have to say, like the LS swap. Good luck with what you choose to do.
