fan is no go

Alright, usually whenever i turned the ignition, my fan would automatically come on. But now, recently getting my headers pu t on, a few days later it stopped working at any temp. And speaking of temp, my gauge goes wacko now, and i looked at the snesor on the driver side head, and the wire had been burnt, so i spliced in a new one and conneccted it again, still nothign happened. Could this be a bad thermostat? I have one comin gin the mail so i hope its the thermostat, cause i dotn want to take it to the shop, i dotn know much about how the fan operates.

well there is a sensor in passenger side for the fans to come on. The sensor on driver side is for the temp guage. I would check the sensor on passenger side a lot of ppl break that when doing the headers.
