coolant fan switch for single fan?

hello, i have seen several aftermarket coolant switches that are for the dual fan setup. well, i have a 86 iroc with just one cooling fan. does anybody know of a aftermarket switch that is for the single fan that turns the fan on at a lower temp? thanks, tom

If you have the TPI, then it's the same set up as my Trans Am. What I did was pick up a lighted rocker switch from AutoZone. It was less then 2 bucks if I remember right. There's 3 prongs on the back, here's how I wired mine.

Power terminal - connect to chassis ground.

Accessory terminal - spliced into the the green/white striped wire coming off the wider plug on the ECM.

Ground terminal - connect to +12 volt ignition power.

Didn't even have to punch a wire through the firewall.

Thats pretty much what i did, but i ran a wire to the fan harness through the firewall and to my switch that i put on the dash. Works like a charm though...i control when the fan comes on and goes off....

I spliced the line to the cigarette lighter, to a switch then through firewall, many holes in firewall to work with, spliced the 12 v line to the fan. Took a few mins and got a cheap electrical 3 position switch from an electronics store. I'm thinking of splicing the stereo 12 V power wire though. That way when engine off, no chance fan could be on. But I have to see just exactly how it works because I think the stereo gets 2 separate power feed lines.
